INVESTMENT AND TRADE IN LATIN AMERICA: The Chilean Experience
On April 24, 2007, a seminar entitled “INVESTMENT AND TRADE IN LATIN AMERICA: The Chilean Experience” will be held at the American University Washington College of Law, in Washington DC.
During the last two decades, Chile's economy has been established as one of the fastest growing and most stable economies in Latin America. Much of Chile's economic success is due to its open trade and investment policies. This seminar will explore various issues related to investing and doing business in Chile.
Panelists will analyze the framework governing investment in Chile, and the dispute resolution mechanisms available to investors. Other speakers will address the impact of the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement that entered into force in 2004.
Featured speakers include the Chilean Minister of Economy, Alejandro Ferreiro; the Deputy United States Trade Representative, Ambassador John K. Veroneau; and other Chilean and U.S. government officials. Representatives from U.S. and Chilean companies and law firms will also participate.
This seminar is sponsored by the American University Washington College of Law; the Embassy of Chile; the Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce (Washington, DC); the Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Chile); Citigroup; and the Chilean Foreign Investment Committee.
