Chilean Summer Dinner

On July 25th the Embassy of Chile organized an intimate gathering to showcase Chilean wine and gourmet products in a Chilean chef owner’s restaurant: Park Café DC.

For the Past 20 years Park Café on Capitol Hill has thrived by itself on Lincoln Park serving sophisticated, contemporary American and Chilean cuisine.

This time its Chef Alcione Vinet fusion his own expertise with some icon Chilean products from Pisco Sour to Carica (Chilean papaya), Lucuma (egg fruit), cheese empanadas (with real Chilean cheese); sea bass in merkén sauce (smoked and dried chili); Chilean natural beef and of course, a large selection of Chilean wines. All these products are available in several stores.

Some of the guests attended the event were: James Adams from NBC news; Walter Nicholls, food editor from the Washington Post; Ann Geracimos social journalist from Washington Times; Michael Birchenall editor from Food Monthly Service and Sheilah Kaufmann from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. The event was also attended by representatives of the State Department, the US. Trade Representative USTR, and the Chilean community.

This is the first time that the Economic Department of the Embassy of Chile launches an activity in order to promote Chilean products in a Chilean restaurant. As the Ambassador of Chile stated “there is plenty of room for a Chilean Cuisine in DC and all through US, we have best quality products in the market place”.

From now on you would be able to find Chilean products new releases at Park Café DC.
